About the Repertory
In the repertory, created by Toni Taylor along with the work of many collaborators, the company explores the intersection of dance and modern music by contemporary composers as well as the use of folk, jazz, liturgical, and classical music for the dances. It often works improvisationally and in, particular, explores the dynamics between dance and other mediums by collaborating with composers, designers, sculptors, poets, and puppeteers among others. Below is brief sampling of works created by Toni Taylor and the dancers representing a cross section of the types of work in the Repertory.
Remaining Vertical
With four dancers and two puppeteers, using modern dance and shadow puppets, the piece considers how we keep going in the face of all obstacles, including capricious gods who sometimes save us, and sometimes don’t.

Ecstatic Equilibrium
For five dancers, “Empyrean” is inspired by a painting by the American Indian painter Paul Deo that considers that the idea that after a long hard life, the empyic sphere might be a really cool place. Is it possible that beauty in the form of music in the afterlife exists?
Music: Northwind and Modern Jazz Quartet
Costumes: Estelle Star
Coincidence
You're sitting at the bar, watching the game with the juke box in the background. Coincidentally everything synches up perfectly. With a cast of five in two parts, "Coincidence" was created as a problem solver. A new piece was needed, but dancer schedules was very tight. So they developed three phrases of unique material that Taylor then gently arranges into a coherent order, resulting in more than a few perfect aesthetic moments. Music is by the Miles Davis Quartet.
